Police arrested a man who stole a bag containing a pair of jeans and an Apple iPod Touch from a woman on June 3. The victim met police at about 10 p.m. on Harvard Street and told them she met the suspect and got into an argument with him over candy. The suspect then wanted to take a pair of mens Rock and Republic jeans she was carrying in a bag that belonged to her brother.

Police responded to Portobello Road on Boylston Street in Newton where a woman allegedly shoplifted items and placed them in a Crate and Barrel bag before fleeing in a Cadillac.

Police said they arrested Israel Reyes, 26, of 2 Pasadena Road Apt. 4 in Dorchester, on a charge of larceny over $250 after he tried swiping jeans from Sears including two pairs that he wore underneath his own jeans.

Captain C. Lee Bennett told 22News that Josefina Lopez is missing. Lopez is 73 years old. She is 5’4’’ tall and weighs 174 lbs. She has brown eyes and hair. She was last seen wearing a furlined long green winter coat with jeans.

Officers working in Davis Square responded at 9:30 a.m. to the bike path behind Rite Aide for reports of a suspicious man. A witness reported there was a man in his 50s with dark balding hair, a black sweatshirt and blue jeans sitting on the bike path with kids’ toys, yelling at people as they walked by, according to a police report.
