Wednesday, April 22 marks the 11th Annual Denim Day in Los Angeles and throughout the nation. The movement in Los Angeles, which is sponsored by Peace Over Violence, aims to spread awareness about rape, sexual assault and to educate people.

A New Jersey man kidnapped and held for several months while working for the United Nations in Pakistan is home and in good spirits, but says he is “a little bit tired” after his ordeal. John Solecki, 49, briefly spoke to reporters at his parents’ home in South Orange. Wearing jeans, loafers and a brown jacket, his hair was long, but he was otherwise clean shaven.

Jeans and apparel maker Levi Strauss said Friday it would close its factory in Hungary because of falling demand for its products amid the global economic crisis. San Francisco-based Levi Strauss said it has agreed with trade unions on a severance package for the 549 people who will lose their jobs by the end of June, when the factory in the southern city of Kiskunhalas is scheduled to close.
